The newly formed Newcastle Chapter is hosting:
Future directions in ADR –
a conversation
With Margaret Halsmith, LEADR Chair &
Fiona Hollier, LEADR CEO
Tuesday 30 November 2010
Margaret (left) and Fiona will join ADR practitioners in Newcastle for an interactive forum about:
- Future directions in ADR and
- How LEADR can best support the Newcastle Chapter and its members.
ADR in Australia and beyond
Both Federal and State governments are currently legislating for and strongly promoting ADR.
Informed by her role as a member of NADRAC, Margaret will outline some of the recent recommendations made to the Attorney General as well as Federal legislation relating to ADR.
Fiona will describe the ways in which LEADR engages in discussions about such initiatives and how it canvases member input.
Recent and current initiatives that we will consider and explore together include:
- the Civil Proceedings Bill which recently passed through the House of Representatives
- the Dispute Management Plans as a requirement for all federal agencies
- the ADR principles and guide for consumers, and
- the Integrity in ADR processes issues paper: confidentiality, admissibility, practitioner immunity, and conduct obligations in ADR processes.
LEADR in Newcastle
At its AGM on 21 October the Newcastle Conflict Resolution Inc passed a motion to become a Newcastle Chapter of LEADR. This has since been ratified by the LEADR Board.
So at this first Newcastle Chapter meeting, Margaret and Fiona will seek your ideas on ways in which LEADR can best support the Newcastle Chapter and its members.
Please join us for stimulating discussion and professional networking.
