What invisible forces impact on the mediation process? Forces considered will include happiness, presence and expectations. What is the mediator’s responsibility in relation to these forces? As we increase our awareness of these forces, what are the implications for our claims to neutralirty as mediators? This is a paper & workshop for those interested in embracing the `third stage’ of growth as mediators, that is, developing the personal qualities that make us more effective peace-makers. I draw on learning from Positive Psychology and Appreciative Inquiry, two schools of current thought and practice which offer rich insights for conflict resolution practitioners.
